• Make your way to Feskekôrka, the classic market hall for fish and seafood – you won’t get fresher fish without getting your feet wet! If you’re hungry, have a bite to eat at Gabriel’s restaurant.
• Continue on to the fashion and design boutiques around Vallgatan and Magasinsgatan. Nordstan, the largest shopping centre in the Nordic countries, is near to Central Station.
• Ready for some afternoon refreshment? Stop at da Matteo on Vallgatan where Mattias Björklund, Sweden’s Best Barista 2009, works.
• Take a look in Saluhallen, the main market hall. If the season’s right, make your way over Kungstorget to buy your ticket to Paddan, the popular canal boat sight-seeing tour through Göteborg. Just over the road are the gardens of the Göteborg Horticultural Society, Trädgårdsföreningen, which are world-famous for their roses.
• Stroll along Avenyn, the main boulevard, and visit Röhsska, Sweden’s only museum for design and fashion. Afterwards, continue up Avenyn. At the top is the Göteborg Museum of Art with the world’s finest collection of Nordic art from the turn of the last century.
• Dinner – there are five Michelin-starred restaurants in Göteborg: Sjömagasinet, Fond, 28+, Basement, and Kock & Vin.
• For the evening: visit the Göteborg Opera or Göteborg’s Concert Hall at Götaplatsen.
